The Mathematics Department offers a comprehensive mathematics program whose goal is to enable all students to reach high standards and full potential in a supportive, academically focused environment. We seek to engage students in meaningful mathematics that stimulates curiosity and enjoyment, while providing a balance between skill development and conceptual understanding. Throughout our curriculum, we emphasize the following Mathematical Practices:
- Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
- Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
- Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
- Model with mathematics.
- Use appropriate tools strategically.
- Attend to precision.
- Look for and make use of structure.
- Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
Each math teacher has office hours before and after school and are available during After School Academic Support. In addition, the Math Lab, staffed by a certified math teacher, is open every hour of the school day for students who need additional support.
Courses taught include: Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus A/B, and Moraine Park Technical College Courses (Technical College Math and Technical Math 1A/1B).
