Academic Standards
Wisconsin Academic Standards specify what students should know and be able to do in the classroom. They serve as goals for teaching and learning. Setting high standards enables students, families and educators to know what students should have learned at a given point in time. In addition, clear statements about what students must know and be able to do are essential in making sure our schools offer opportunities to get the knowledge and skills necessary for success beyond the classroom.
Mayville School District follows the Wisconsin Model Academic Standards.
Annually, the Mayville Board of Education passes a resolution adopting academic standard areas of focus for the upcoming school year:
Board Adopted Academic Standards
State law requires the District to provide the parents and guardians of all enrolled students with notice of the academic standards in mathematics, science, reading and writing, geography, and history that have been adopted by the School Board and that will be in effect during each school year. The Mayville School District follows the Wisconsin Model Academic Standards for the remaining content areas not listed.
The District has adopted the Common Core Essential Elements, as adapted to Wisconsin by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction for educating students with significant intellectual disabilities for whom IEP teams determine other standards are not appropriate. Accordingly, the District academic standards that will be in effect in these specific content areas for this school year are listed below.
