Your responsibility:
You are using the same computer from the school district until you graduate. The files and other information stored on the computer should not be considered private. Every student needs to have a Responsibilities Contract on file before being issued a computer. See the forms and references for a copy of the agreement.
Treat the computer with care.
If you damage the computer you will be responsible for paying the deductible to fix it.
Do not carry the computer by the screen. Doing this may cause damage that requires you to pay the $50 deductible.
A Responsibilities Contract must be signed before being issued a computer.
What the computer has to offer:
Chromebooks will come loaded with Chrome OS.
The Chromebooks have been configured to allow students to print to the Google Cloud printer in the High School Library.
All files on the Chromebooks will be stored online as there is no hard drive.
How to take care of your computer:
Permanent changes to the computer such as engraving, marking, painting, or drawing other than the district provided etching will not be permitted. Students may personalize the netbook by using gel skins. These are removable vinyl skins for protecting and customizing portable devices.
Close the computer before walking around with it. Carrying it by the screen while walking down the hall may cause expensive damage.
Carry your computer in your backpack to and from school, preferably in the district provided protective case.
Recharge the battery every evening. With careful use the charge should last all day (9.5 hrs) but you may want to bring your power cord to school with you in case the battery runs down.
Some uses for the computer:
Chromebook users will be restricted to using Google Docs and other online word processing applications. The District also uses Office 365 - check with IT office for your username and password.
