The Science Club starts the next year by electing officers to run the meetings:  President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. We begin our new year with the collection of dues, the creation of a club T-shirt, and an aluminum can collection to raise money for trips. The students have opportunities for volunteer work at the DNR station, with Operation Christmas Child boxes, and Canstruction (all classes participate). Before Christmas, the students sell and create canning jar cookies to raise money for future trips. Donation request letters go out to businesses to gain community partnerships with the school. In the spring the students’ hard work pays off with opportunities to attend various trips. In a typical year, students attend a workshop at the Center for Nursing Excellence and an annual Science Club field trip. On alternating years, we attend the UW-Madison Engineering Expo.
