COVID-19 UPDATE: To ensure the safety of our students and staff, non-essential visitors are not permitted within our schools during the global pandemic. In the event that critical services must be provided, contractors will be allowed to enter only through our main offices with administrative approval and only after following the standard procedures outlined below. We look forward to being able to welcome visitors back into our buildings as soon as it is deemed safe for all. Thank you for your understanding during these challenging times.

Visitors are welcome in Mayville Schools. The presence of our families, as well as that of members of the public, enriches our students’ experiences. At the same time, it is necessary to avoid disruption of the education process and protect the safety and welfare of our students and staff. Building principals have the right to determine which visits to permit and can determine the extent of such visits.
Mayville School District uses the Raptor Visitor Management System (Raptor) at all of our schools to enhance safety for students and faculty. An essential part of school safety is knowing who is in our buildings at all times, and Raptor helps us achieve that goal. Raptor allows us to screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools to help maintain a safe environment. Raptor checks to ensure that registered sexual offenders are not entering our school campuses without our knowledge.
Raptor operates as follows: Upon entering a district building, visitors will be asked to present a government-issued identification (such as a Driver’s License, or other state issued ID) that can either be scanned or manually entered into the system. If a parent or guardian for any reason does not have a US government-issued ID, the building administrator(s) will make a decision as to whether or not to allow entry.
The Raptor system checks the visitor's name and date of birth for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders. The Meghan’s Law registered sex offender database is the only official database checked by Raptor. No other data from the ID will be collected or recorded and the information is not shared with any outside agency.
Once entry is approved, Raptor will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of his/her visit. A visitor’s badge will not be necessary for those who visit our schools simply to drop off an item in the office or pick up paperwork.
The safety of our students is our highest priority and the Raptor Visitor Management System allows us to quickly identify anyone that may present a danger to our students. Thank you, in advance, for your support in enhancing the school safety program in our district.
