2016, June 15th Community Conversation Summary
School District of Mayville
Community Conversation #1
June 15, 2016
The School District of Mayville hosted a Community Conversation on Wednesday, June 15 from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm in the Middle School auditorium. The purpose of this meeting was to solicit information from community members and discuss District planning as it relates to facility and programming needs.
Matt Gibson facilitated the community conversation. Mr. Gibson’s 30 years of school administration experience earned him an extensive background in building community consensus around school district referendums, building projects and facility needs. He attended three of the Mayville/Horicon consolidation meetings and has become very familiar with our District, the consolidation discussions and the past Mayville referendum attempt.
Mr. Gibson provided the 45 District residents in attendance with a brief introduction as to the purpose of the meeting and reviewed the agenda for the evening’s conversation (6-15-16 Community Conversation Agenda and Meeting Information) including the following topics:
Learn from April, 2015 Mayville Facilities Referendum
Learn from Mayville/Horicon Consolidation Study
Four discussion groups were formed and each group addressed the topics above. A facilitator from each group then reported out the findings of their discussion to the entire audience. The conversation was informative and productive as outlined in (6-15-16 Community Conversation Feedback Summary).
The next Community Conversation will be held on Wednesday, July 6 beginning at 7:00 pm in the Middle School auditorium. The planned agenda for that evening is as follows:
